Meet the Artist
Susie Hoffman creates award-winning art reflective of the people, places, and pets of Calaveras County and beyond. Taking inspiration from her travels, Susie loves to paint still life scenes from the breathtaking villages in Southern France to the quaint streets of Murphys, CA. She also has a talent for infusing personality into animal portraits that create a unique, lively style.
Although Susie retired from teaching sixth grade, she never truly hung up her teaching hat. Over the past few decades, Susie has organized painting excursions across Europe and taught countless classes at her home studio. She and her husband, Larry, also owned and operated an art center in Copperopolis, CA for 14 years featuring artists from across the California foothills.
Susie began creating art later in life, starting in watercolor and progressing through most all media. She’s living proof that it’s never too late to begin a new hobby – or career! Developing her signature loose, unrestricted artistic style, Susie’s goal is to make the audience feel involved in each painting.

Often your best paintings are the ones you spend the least amount of time on because they are fresh and painterly.
Susie’s art is also featured in shops and galleries throughout the Mother Lode region in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties. You can currently view and purchase her artwork on this website or at:
